Silke Eberhard received the German Jazz Prize this year for her large ensemble “Potsa Lotsa XL”, and in 2020 she received the Berlin Jazz Prize. The saxophonist and composer is an award-winning pioneer in German jazz: her virtuoso playing, her uncompromising, courageous and mostly self-ironic approach are unique. Silke Eberhard’s avant-garde jazz is as cheerful as the musician herself, who evidently lets her joy of playing carry her over any obstacles: “Being the Up and Down” is the name of one of her albums.
